Smiley works his butt off
worked to death
throw a wrench in the works
old-boy network
gum up the works
cloak and dagger work
all in a day's work
I always complained because my work was being interupted - until I realised the interuptions were my work.
when the work is done, I will have time for myself
most people don’t even know why they feel they have to work
most of the work is being done to counter the effects of other people’s work: when we all agree to work half as much, the total result would be the same.
there will come a day when all the work is finished or when it is too late to finish it
all work and no play
A mother's work is never done.
Easier than government work
saddled with work (or some other burden)
working from the bottom up
many hands make light work
did your homework
Idle hands are the Devil's workshop
all work and no play makes Johnny a dull boy
worked night and day
won't work a lick
Close enough for government work.
All play and no work makes Jack a poor boy
work like a dog
Whistle while you work
God works in mysterious ways
get out of the sack and get to work

Here's a couple more from Grandma Roork:

"I was fit to be tied."

"I don't care if it hair-lips the governor."

She had a million of them!

Where did "Don't Bogart that..." come from?

Anything to do with Humphrey Bogart?

"That would take a month of Sundays."

I asked somebody what that meant when I was younger. I was told, "Think about it. If time went by as long as it took to have 30 Sundays go by, then your talking 30 weeks - that's a long time."

Terry is in Las Vegas right now and is visibly upset that there are no new entries on this website which he claims to be his.

turn a phrase
half expected
whatever blows your skirt up
Fair 2 midland
Hankey Pankey
my name is mud
salt in your wound
shooting yourself in the feet
speaking of the devil
starnge as an ox
Handful
throw it out the window
Jesus criminy
a little hookey
Hog wash
Bump on a log
Racking my brain
lighting in a bottle
hind sight
2020
fly off the handle
kill 2 birds with one stone
you're shallow
Dilly dally around
wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole
a little cheesey
Mind your P's & Q's
work is like a chair
chink an armor
heads r going to roll
talley ho
keep an open heart
clear as a bell
shin dig
all the world is a stage
as a crow flies
wise crack
4 crying outloud
dreaming up business
